FLORIDA ASSOCIATION FOR PROFESSIONAL HEALTH EDUCATORS

Greetings Fellow Health Educators,
FAPHE is your organization which strives to represent our collective interests as we work to bring a coordinated school health approach to the districts, schools and individual students in our state. We need to hear from you! Please let us know your thoughts and solutions on any issue related to the topic of health education and our public schools.
We are extremely excited about a wonderful opportunity to partner with other Health Educators from the Southern District as we join forces to co-host the SDAAHPERD conference in February of 2012. Please reach out to any Board member and volunteer a little of your time to assist us in bringing the very best breakout sessions/professional development opportunities to our membership. There is a lot to do and we welcome your expertise in a variety of ways; on health topics as a presenter, your positive attitude to work as a session facilitator, or your technology skills to assist with the behind-the-scene effort it takes to host a conference of this magnitude.
Thank you for your continued dedication and hard work for all of our students!
I look forward to hearing from you.

FAPHE Officers for 2010- 2011

Health Educator of the Year Award Committee Members
We are actively seeking committee members to review the award packets which are disseminated in late spring. This is a wonderful way to support your professional organization as well as learn about some of the most innovative and effective Health Educators our state has to offer. Please feel free to email Cynthia Gass or Steve George if you have any questions or would like to be a part of the selection committee.

Primary Initiatives

Spring 2011 – 2011 Health Education Bill

  • There has been proposed legislation to require ½ credit of health education for high school graduation. House Bill 429 has been submitted by Representative Mia Jones. If passed, this legislation provides for mandatory one-half credit in health education, independent of physical education credit requirements, for high school students; provides waiver for students who request to take & successfully complete health education assessment developed by DOE; reduces number of credits in elective courses.
